Host Your Special Occasion at The Stonehouse Oval

Whether you are planning a milestone birthday, a beautiful wedding reception, or a professional corporate meeting, Oswestry Cricket Club offers a welcoming and picturesque setting in the heart of our community.

As one of the town’s longest-running sports clubs, we take immense pride in our facilities and our reputation for hosting unforgettable events. We offer two of the finest function rooms in Oswestry, both featuring dedicated private bars and the unique backdrop of our historic cricket ground.

Our Function Suites

  • The Mike Robinson Room: Our premier event space, perfect for larger celebrations. It comfortably seats between 50 and 110 guests and features a spacious layout with a dedicated dance floor area. There is ample room for a DJ or live band, along with designated spaces for buffets, cakes, and gifts. Guests also enjoy exclusive access to our west-facing veranda—the perfect spot to catch the Oswestry sunshine

  • The Gwilym Owen Room: An intimate and cosy alternative, ideal for smaller gatherings, private meetings, or wake services where a more personal atmosphere is required.

Hire Information & Pricing

We strive to keep our community club accessible and affordable. Rates are tailored to your specific needs, with bookings starting from:

  • From £75 + VAT for the Gwilym Owen Room

  • From £150 + VAT for the Mike Robinson Room

To secure your date, a non-refundable room hire fee is required at the time of booking. For your convenience, we accept payments via cash, cheque, or all major debit and credit cards.

We are proud to hold a 5-Star Food Hygiene Rating from the Food Standards Agency. Whether you are using our in-house catering or simply enjoying a drink from our well-stocked bar (featuring local favourites from Stonehouse Brewery),you can be assured of the highest standards.

A Note on Bookings

As a community-focused club situated in a residential area, our license and location mean we are generally unable to host 18th or 21st birthday parties. However, we are always happy to discuss specific requirements or extenuating circumstances on a case-by-case basis.

To complement your food, our bars are exceptionally well-stocked with a curated selection of wines and spirits. We are particularly proud to serve Real Ales from our local sponsors, Stonehouse Brewery, ensuring your guests enjoy a true taste of Oswestry.

Catering Without Limits

Our catering team doesn't believe in "set menus" that can't be changed. We want to help you design the perfect culinary experience for your guests:

  • Bespoke options: Quite literally, if you have a vision, we have the "can-do" attitude to make it happen.

A Refreshing Approach

You won't find a list of "strict must-haves" or rigid rules here. Our approach is refreshing, flexible, and entirely focused on your needs. Our only request is that, as a community club, you help us stay in the good books of our local residents by ensuring your guests depart quietly at the end of the night!

 

Terms & Conditions

To ensure we provide the highest quality service for your event, we ask our guests to observe the following guidelines:

  • Catering Minimums: Our catering services are generally available for a minimum number of guests, depending on the type of event. However, as a community club, we pride ourselves on our flexibility—please talk to us about your specific requirements, and we will do our best to accommodate you.

  • Final Guest Numbers: The quality of our food depends on precise planning. Therefore, we require confirmation of your final guest numbers 14 days prior to your event.

  • Fees & Charges: Once numbers are agreed upon and food is ordered, these confirmed numbers will be the minimum amount charged.

  • Accuracy: While we always strive to go the extra mile, we cannot be held responsible for food shortages if the number of attendees exceeds the figures provided to us in advance.

  • Payment: To ensure your booking runs smoothly, we require all agreed fees to be settled alongside your final confirmation of numbers (14 days before the event).

The quality of our catering depends on every event being planned separately, so once food has been ordered, numbers agreed prior to this will be charged for. If we are not informed of extra guests, we can't be responsible for shortages of food at the event.

To finish off the T&Cs, here is a professional way to word the cancellation policy. It makes it clear that these charges aren't just "penalties," but are there to cover the genuine costs of the volunteer-run kitchen and staff.


Cancellation Policy

As a community club, once a booking is confirmed, we immediately begin allocating our dedicated staff and kitchen resources to your event. To cover these committed costs, the following cancellation charges apply:

  • Standard Cancellation: A minimum charge of 20% of the total booking value applies to all confirmed bookings.

  • Late Cancellation (Within 14 Days): Cancellations made within two weeks of the event date will incur a 50% charge.

  • Final Week Cancellation (Within 7 Days): Cancellations made within one week of the event date will be charged at 100% of the total booking value.

 

Payment Terms

We believe in a transparent and straightforward booking process. Our team will discuss the specific payment schedule for your event during your initial consultation to ensure it meets your needs.

  • Final Settlement: Unless alternative arrangements have been agreed upon in writing prior to the event, final payment is required 14 days before your function.

  • Payment Methods: For your convenience, we accept payments via cash, cheque, or major debit and credit cards.
