NEWSLETTER – SEPTEMBER 2025
PLAYING NEWS
Congratulations to our Under 13 County side who won their league, following a long tradition of our junior teams winning honours, all of our other junior sides were very competitive also. Another strong and hopefully season across the board.
Our WaGs team are well placed in both softball and hardball leagues and can hopefully bring both trophies back to Morda Road again this season!
The 1s and 3s still have outside chances of promotion so it’s important they both finish strong as you never know with the rules or the league what will happen!
The 2s have been competitive and seen a new group of young players get their first taste of super competitive Saturday cricket against a combination of 1st teams and mostly adult / experienced 2nd teams, they will have learnt lots and be well placed to push on next season. The 4s have also been competitive and seen a new group of juniors get their first taste of senior cricket and there have been some very encouraging performances with players getting their first wickets and 50’s.
GROUNDS, EQUIPMENT AND FACILITIES
Our new batting cage and net to provide safe seating are in place courtesy of Net World Sports and are part of the ongoing process of improving and upgrading facilities to make OCC the best possible place to play or watch cricket possible.
Our Frogbox system has been purchased and all parts of it have now arrived! for us to hopefully run some tests before the end of the season and get it ready for full use next season. We hope it will be a great asset to the club and there will be sponsorship opportunities for the live feed and highlights on social media available. If you or a business you know might be interested in hearing more about this for next year then get in touch.
The upgrades in the kitchen are in progress with the gas fitting, new extractor fan and oven all nearly complete which will mean we are able to offer greater catering opportunities and do bigger and better events in 2026.
We will be looking for caterers interested in linking up with the club for future events as Jen who has done such a wonderful job will be retiring at the end of the year, thank you Jen! If you know of caterers who might be interested then please direct them our way for a conversation.
MEMBERSHIP AND FEES
The move to SPOND has been a positive and thank you for everyone’s patience and interaction with it as we’ve learnt how to use it this year, we’ve learnt a lot and we will be making tweaks and improvements for next year. We will also in September be doing a reconciliation exercise just to tidy up outstanding match fees, so messages / links might be going out once we have calculated any missing fees.
