Ladies Section
Our Woman’s & Girls Section has been one of the fastest growing sections in the club over recent years.
Expertly led by Naomi Payne, the section now boasts 5 teams, and is currently the only section of Oswestry Cricket Club to play in both Summer Outdoor and Winter Indoor leagues.
The Oswestry Women’s XI play in the Women and Girls Shropshire 8’s Hardball League where we play against other forward-thinking clubs, such as Quatt CC, Forton CC, Knockin & Kinnerley CC and Sentinel CC
We then have the Women’s & Girls Hardball indoor league, where we are in Pool C alongside Cricket Shropshire’s Renegades Women’s team, and Shelton CC’s Women’s Hardball indoor team.
In the colder months we have our Women’s Softball Indoor team, who play in the Woman’s Softball Indoor league played at Ellesmere College where we are in pool A
The Women’s Softball team play in the Shropshire cricket Board Strategic Leisure Super 10’s Yellow League
And finally our Women’s Softball B team play in the Shropshire Cricket Board Women’s Softball Indoor league, where we are in Group C which is held at Shrewsbury School
Women’s cricket has now firmly established itself globally with its own identity within the game, and its is great to see the profile that this has brought to the National team cascading down through both the Franchise and County Structures.
This has brought fantastic interest locally and has enabled Oswestry Cricket Club to have a robust Women’s and Girls section which is both successful, and full of fun!
