The Future of our Game: Junior Cricket at Oswestry CC

At Oswestry Cricket Club, our Junior Section is more than just a training program—it is the heartbeat of our club. We believe that the energy and passion found here is the engine that drives the future of our senior teams and the wider cricketing community.

A Legacy of Excellence

We take immense pride in our track record. We welcome children of all abilities, guiding them through the age groups with expert support. The results speak for themselves: many of our juniors have made the leap into our Senior XI, with several achieving the prestigious honor of representing Shropshire at County level and beyond.

Our Leadership & Coaching Team

Our youth development is overseen by a highly active leadership team dedicated to creating a safe, professional, and inspiring environment.

  • Junior Coordinator: Andrew Leggatt Recipient of the 2022 ECB Award and the Shropshire County "Outstanding Contribution Award."

  • Assistant Coordinator: Steve Humphreys (Level 2 Coach)

  • Safeguarding Officer: Jaine Kular

  • Level 2 Coaches: Andy Pugh & Andrew Walker

The Senior Connection: We are especially proud that over half of our coaching staff are active senior team players. This creates a unique "one-club" culture, providing our young cricketers with direct role models to learn from.

All Stars Cricket: Where the Journey Begins

As a proud host of the ECB All Stars Cricket initiative, we offer a high-energy, 8-week introduction to the sport for children aged 5 to 8.

Held every Friday, these sessions are designed to be pure fun, focusing on fundamental skills in a safe and supportive environment. It’s the perfect way for your child to fall in love with the game.

Friday Nights at Morda Road

Our main Junior and All Stars coaching sessions are the highlight of our week!

  • When: Every Friday Evening

  • Time: 6:00 pm – 8:00 pm

  • The Vibe: A vibrant, family-friendly atmosphere. While the kids sharpen their skills on the pitch, the club is a hub for parents to socialize and enjoy the community spirit.
